As I already mentioned, lavender is super easy to grow in most climates. Doesn’t require a lot of water, likes full sun and well drained soil.  It will form fairly large bushes that can easily be made into a hedge.

It is also a great companion plant. Harvest lavender as it blooms throughout the summer, and prune back by about a third each fall.  There are multiple lavender varieties to choose from, such as English, French, Grosso, and Provence.

The Gift That Keeps Giving – Lavender is a crafter’s dream. Dried lavender looks stunning in a vase. Shake off the buds to create a lovely sachet for your drawers. Put the buds in a small bowl next to your bed, add a few drops of essential oil and drift off to dreamland.

I’ve even heard of people throwing buds at the bride and groom at a wedding!

Few things taste as delightful as honey. But on the scale of things providing humans with honey is fairly minor in comparison to the benefits we reap from their hard work pollinating flowers.

Without this work, life as we know it would be somewhat different. As their work is hugely important ensuring that we get to enjoy lots of the food we regularly munch away on. While there are a variety of factors negatively impacting on Bees. Two of them are things that we can help with in our home gardens – habitat loss and pesticide use.

For if we are careful with pesticides, avoid using them if we can.And by growing lots of flowers to help provide the bees with lots of food. Then collectively our individual actions can help these great creatures!

Besides being easy to grow, lavender is also beautiful!

It is a lovely plant to have around, in your backyard or your front yard.  I love how it looks, it’s great as a border or walkway plant, and will cheer up any outdoor space that it’s planted in.  Just walking by my lavender plants makes me happy!

Lavender is also well known for making amazing drinks, boozy or not.  I love a good lavender lemonade (there’s that lemon lavender combo again), and lavender tea is also very nice.

Celebrate the versatility of lavender by using this herb to its fullest. The benefits of lavender start in the garden, but when you’re willing to harvest flowers, you can enjoy lavender benefits indoors, too. Lavender offers a host of uses in the home, from scenting linens, to giving fleas the brush-off, to seasoning foods!
